Before writing full-time, Steve Handley worked in the Home Office, covering all the major departments as well as the Ministerial Private Office.
Steve was a writer on The Bill for over 13 years. His episode Follow Through, set in a female prison, achieved the then highest viewing figure and a 90 minute special, Money Man, was short-listed for the Race In Media drama award.
Other television work includes 3 x 60+ minutes Crimewatch Files, Holby City, and Pig Boy for the BBC SCENE strand which is now included in the BBC Learning Zone Broadband site. Filmwork includes Man In The Box (developed as ‘D.C.’ for Castle Rock Productions) co-written with Paul Schoolman and Alice Krige and based on Steve’s original idea. Steve was mentor to a group of students on the Video and Digital Media Degree Course at Wolverhampton University.
Away from film and television Steve contributed to Kiki Kendrick’s one-woman show NEXT! which was seen at the 2010 Edinburgh Festival. Steve is currently developing a number of projects with ReelArt Media.
